ATV Offroad Fury is a racing game on the PlayStation 2 released in 2001. It was developed by Rainbow Studios, the same people who developed the MX vs. ATV series. The game was also given a Greatest Hits re-release. It is the first ATV game in the Sony exclusive quadrilogy.

Gameplay[]

The game lets the player take control of over 20 ATVs (all terrain vechiles) to race around the track. There are a couple of singleplayer modes, such as..

  • MAXXIS Nationals; A mode with races that take place outdoors.
  • Stadium Supercross; Same as MAXXIS Nationals, just with tracks that take place indoors.
  • Freestyle; A mode which the player can select a track to pull off as much stunts as possible in under the selected time limit, and also has a "free ride" where the player can free-roam without any limitations to where they can go around the track (until they reach the boundaries)
  • Practice; Race around any track the player has unlocked, except there is no limit to how many laps the player can do (you cannot explore the tracks)
  • Pro Career; The game's main attraction. Select gear, an ATV, and race in all MAXXIS National and Stadium Supercross events in order, and winning first place in all the races.

Each ATV controls different. Some ATVs go extremely fast, but have horrible stability and bad handling, making it much easier to either crash or go through tight turns.

Reception[]

ATV Offroad Fury got mixed to positive reviews. IGN praised the gameplay, but did the opposite with its soundtrack. Gamespot's rating was more harsh, criticizing the graphics and how hard the game is.
