Astro's Playroom is a platformer that comes pre-loaded on the PlayStation 5 developed by Team Asobi.
Gameplay[]
The game features the player character Astro, a lovable CPU who explores worlds based on PlayStation hardware. Astro's move set is limited to having a spin attack and a jumping maneuver, however there are suits that can be entered to give more abilities like Frog, Monkey, Rocket Ship and Ball. There are also jigsaw pieces to collect which form pictures, and artifacts of classic PlayStation consoles and accessories.
Worlds[]
Memory Meadows[]
Memory Meadows is the first world introduced in Astro's Playroom and focuses on PS1 artifacts. Memory Meadows is based of the memory storage area of the PS5, where all your game data is stored. The first area in this world is called Gusty Gateway where you can find 4 puzzle pieces and 2 artifacts (like all areas across the game). the artifacts that you find here are the PlayStation Controller and PlayStation Mouse. In the second area you'll find Fastlane Fields where the PlayStation Memory Card and Disc lay is found. The third area is called Electrocloud where you'll find the PlayStation LCD Monitor and Multitap. The final area has 3 artifacts, the DualShock Controller, PocketStation, and the PS1. The suit in this world is the Ball where you roll across two racecourses in the second and final areas of this world.
SSD Speedway[]
SSD Speedway is the second world in Astro's Playroom and focuses on PS2 artifacts. SSD Speedway is based off the SSD area of the PS5. The first area of this world is called Turbo Trail where the Buzz Controller and DualShock 2 is found. The second area of this world is Catching Caves where you'll find the PS2 Multitap and the PS2 memory card. Deep Dataspace is the third area where you'll find the PS2 disc and EyeToy Camera. The final area in this world is Orbital Obstacles where there are 3 artifacts. These artifacts are the PlayStation 2 Slim, SingStar microphone and PS2. SSD Speedway also introduces the Jet pack in the second and final areas of this world.
Cooling Springs[]
Cooling Springs is the third world of Astro's Playroom where the main focus is on the PS3 and PSP. Cooling Springs is based off the cooling area of the PS5, this area is for making sure the PS5 doesn't explode and overheat. The first area of this world is Bot Beach where you'll find the DualShock 3 and the PS3 EyeToy Camera. The second area is Springy Spa where you'll find the Ps Move Sharp Shooter and Shooting Attachment. The third area is Frigid Floes where you'll find the Navigation Controller and PS3 game disc. The final area of Cooling Springs is Hotel Hopalot and here, you'll find 3 artifacts. These artifacts are the PSP UMD, The PSP and the PS3. In this world you'll be introduced to the Frog suit where you hop along a linear area.
GPU Jungle[]
GPU Jungle is the fourth area in Astro's Playroom where the main focus is the PS4, PS Vita and PS VR. GPU Jungle is based off the GPU area of the PS5. The first area in this world is Renderforest where you'll find the PS Move Motion Controller and the PS Vita Gamepack. In the second area named Teraflop Treetops you'll find the PlayStation Camera and the DualShock 4. In the third area named Raytrace Ruins where you'll find the PS VR Processer Unit and the PS Vita. In the final area named Mount Motherboard you'll find 3 Artifacts, the PS VR Headset, PS VR Aim Controller and the PS4.
Final Boss[]
After clearing all four worlds, you'll unlock the final boss, the PS1 Tech Demo 1. This is the fifth world in Astro's Playroom. To get to the final boss, you need to go to the basement and you'll find the 1994 Throwback Gate this is where the boss is. The final boss is the T-Rex from the PS1 Tech Demo 1. Once defeated, you'll unlock the DualSense controller, PS5 Camera, PS5 Headphones and the PS5 itself.
PlayStation Labo[]
PlayStation Labo is the sixth area in Astro's Playroom. This area is unlocked from the start and is where you can see everything you collected from the jigsaw pieces to the artifacts. In this area you can even unlock 28 more puzzle pieces and 8 artifacts from each generation. These artifacts are PSP Camera, PSPgo, PSP GPS Receiver, PSP Microphone, PSone, PS3 Slim, PS3 Super Slim, PS4 Slim, PS4 Pro and the PS2 Network Adaptor. Everything unlockable in this area in unlockable through the Gatcha Game where you grab a orb and break it unlock a jigsaw piece or artifact. All the jigsaw pieces in Astro's Playroom are placed into a Wall Mural showing the history of PlayStation from 1994-2016.
Network Speed Run[]
Network Speed Run is just an area where you can speed run areas from 4 of the worlds. If you want to play an area from a world you have to complete that world first. No artifacts or jigsaw pieces are collected in this area. Once you complete all 8 speed runs you will be able to see your total time and official world ranking for total time.
