Crash Twinsanity, known as Crash Bandicoot 5: Crash & Cortex No Yabou in Japan, is an open world platform game developed by Traveller's Tales and published by Vivendi Universal Games for the PlayStation 2 . The game is the 5th installment of Crash Bandicoot games. It was re-released in the three-disc compilation Crash Bandicoot Action Pack alongside Crash Tag Team Racing and Crash Nitro Kart. The gameplay is similar to the Jak and Daxter series.

Story[]

The game takes place three years after the events of Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex, in which Crash destroys Doctor Neo Cortex's Space Station and rescues Crunch Bandicoot. Cortex and Uka Uka escape and land in Antartica. Then the ice that is heading towards Crash's home, Wumpa Island. Then Cortex escapes from his prison, after that Coco is paralyzed by Cortex. Cortex then poorly disguises as Coco and lures Crash into a bay. Then Cortex attacks Crash with Mecha-Bandicoot, a massive robot. After this fails to defeat Crash, the Mecha-Bandicoot falls down to a dark cave, taking Crash and Cortex with it. Furious, Cortex attacks Crash until they reach the end of the cave.

After climbing out of the cave, Crash and Cortex are confronted by a duo of mutant parrots who name themselves as "The Evil Twins". The Evil Twins set out to destroy Wumpa Island. When they find out they came from the Tenth Dimension, Cortex proposes that he and Crash we're looking for crystals needed to power the Psychetron, a high-tech machine which will allow them to travel to the Tenth Dimension. Crash and Cortex later face and defeat Uka Uka, and is ultimately convince by his brother Aku Aku to help him defeat The Evil Twins, but are easily defeated by them. Crash defeats many of his old enemies while trying to collect enough crystals.

After getting enough power crystals, Cortex is approached by Coco, who believes he kidnapped Crash. Coco kicks Cortex right in the crotch, putting the crystals onto the Psychetron, breaking it and paralyzing herself again. In order to fix it Crash and Cortex travel to a place named Madame Amberly's Academy of Evil in order to fetch Nina Cortex, After defeated Dingodile and Madame Amberly, it is revealed that the Evil Twins are actually Cortex's former pet parrots Victor and Moritz, mutated by the radiation in the Tenth Dimension. Once Nina fixes the Psychetron, herself, Crash and Cortex travel to the Tenth Dimension, a big, spiritual, gloomy mirror universe version of Earth. Soon, they finally defeat The Evil Twins, who escape and get eaten alive by a hungry and angry Evil Crash, the Tenth Dimension's version of Crash. The game ends with Cortex trying to use the Psychetron to get rid of Crash, only to malfunction and force Cortex into Crash's mind.
