The first installment in the series. This game was not released immediatly for a PlayStation system but rather for the PlayStation 2 with a Limited Edition of Mortal Kombat: Deception.
The 8th installment in the series, this game was Midway's last game before going bankrupt. The 8th installment was originally going to be Mortal Kombat 8 before signing a deal with DC Comics and making a crossover game.
The story consists of the main antagonist of the game, Dark Kahn (combination of Shoa Kahn and Darkseid), trys to merge Earth with a parrell dimension Earth. As the story processes through, the characters of both sides are filled with rage (which usually makes them fight) and transported through the 2 dimensions.
