Several spaces and content items based on the energy drink Red Bull were released in PlayStation Home, including clothing, furniture and a personal space for players.

History[]

Red Bull was the first major non-gaming company to make an appearence in Home, when the open beta began in 2008. As such, their limited supply of clothing and other player related items made a large impact on the community at the time. In late 2011, the House of Skate personal space was launched, as well as the addition of the Red Bull Flugtag racing game to the beach.

As of 11 April 2012, all Red Bull content was removed from Playstation Home. All rewards and purchased content obtained by players remained in their possession until the closure of Home in 2015, however all public spaces were no longer accessible to players.

Spaces and mini-games[]

Air Race[]

This space featured the Red Bull Air Race mini-game, released on 8 January 2009 for the American and PAL servers, and 17 June 2010 in Asia. The game was based on the real-world event and required players to pilot a plane through a series of rings on a timed course in order to beat their friends' times, or the community times. Players had three planes to choose from, and there were two daily leaderboards for global and friends' highscores. There were no rewards in the game, participation was purely for the sake of competition.

Beach[]

The Beach public space primarily featured the mini-game Red Bull Flugtag, in which a player attempted to fly a vehicle as far as possible. The vehicle were not designed for efficient air distance and, often, plummeted quickly into the water.

The game could be played solo, or as a team flight with each member contributing to the team's score. There were many vehicles to choose from, including a pig's head, and a rocket tail. Different components would contribute to the overall performance of the vehicle in some small way. After choosing a vehicle, two or three randomly selected mini-games were shown to help increase the performance of the vehicle. These ranged from attempting to keep a randomly drifting circle inside a target, to matching a random sequence of arrows using the D-Pad. Once the performance has been set, the player would then launch the vehicle. By pushing the left stick side-to-side, the player tried to keep the vehicle upright in the air. Pushing forward caused the vehicle to dive and pick up speed, while pulling back increased altitude, lowering the speed. The goal was to keep the vehicle upright while repeatedly diving to gain speed and then climbing altitude to get further distance.

There were many rewards available to unlock depending on how successful the player was, ranging from themed clothing to Flug trophy ornaments.

Illume[]

This space was an exhibition of action and adventure sports photographs from Red Bull Illume. The winning photograph from each of the competition's ten categories was displayed on large illuminated cubes, imitating the real-life exhibit.

House of Skate[]

The House of Skate was a private space from Red Bull. It featured six distinct rooms and two mini-games. It allowed for up to 40 items to be placed, including three active items. Because of the size of the space, 40 items was rather sparse. Furthermore, one of the rooms was not a spawn point so the only means of placing furniture there was bringing it through a narrow doorway. Therefore, only small items of furniture could be placed in that particular room.

The main mini-game was an indoor skateboard park. The player could control their avatar as they skateboarded around the park. A much smaller mini-game was featured in a Red Bull vending machine. It showed a sequence of button presses that the player then needed to repeat. By completing the sequence correctly, the player would win a Red Bull can ornament or clothing item.
