Ridge Racer is a racing game developed by Namco and released for the PlayStation in 1994. It was originally released in 1993 as an arcade game before being ported to PlayStation for the console's launch. It was followed by a sequel, Ridge Racer Revolution, in 1995.

The development took eight months and the game was based on a Japanese car enthusiast craze. It was able to get people excited about the new console and helped beat out competition from the Sega Saturn.
